2 Timed Essay You have 35 minutes to write the essay you planned for homework. You have 5 mins to look at your notes before you start. You may like to do a quick plan Don’t forget synoptic points!! a.Outline two or more types of intervention for addictive behaviour (9 marks) b.Evaluate each of the types of intervention outlined in part (a) in terms of its effectiveness (16 marks)

3 Be the teacher!! Use the mark scheme from your text book (page vii) to help you mark a partner’s essay. Decide which band each answer would fall into. Write or discuss with your partner parts of the essay that were particularly successful and areas for improvement Set yourself a target for improvement If there is time you might like to rewrite part of this essay, or do this at home

6 Conclusion So what did your results tell you about how addictive behaviour is portrayed on TV? Does this match Sulkenen, Gunasekera or Boyd’s research? What implications could your study have on Psychology/society/TV How could you improve this study?

7 Identify the part of the report and put them in the correct order The first thing the report needs. It should say what the study is about and include the IV and DV A concise summary of the report (no more than 120 words). Includes aim, hypotheses, method, a summary of results, a brief interpretation of findings and any flaws. General overview of the area being studied, including existing theories and studies closely related to your study A sentence stating the purpose of the study. A statement of what will actually be tested, including the IV and DV. Describes how the research will be carried out. It should be detailed enough to allow complete replication Data is displayed in tables, graphs, mean e.t.c, inferential stat with justification and level of significance An explanation of the findings and relating them to the aim and hypothesis. Implications of the study, limitations and modifications. Relationship to background research and suggestions for future research. List of all books, journals, websites e.t.c used in background research. Presented in alphabetical order of the author’s surname Material used e.g. questionnaires, consent form, debrief form standardised instructionse.t.c
