Grammar: Using a Dictionary A dictionary is used to find the meaning of a word you do not know. The meaning of a word is called the definition.

Skill: Using a Dictionary A dictionary is also used to show you the correct spelling of a word. Each word is called an entry. abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz

Skill: Using a Dictionary All words in a dictionary are listed in alphabetical order. That means all words that start with a are in the front of the book and words that start with z are in the back of the book.

Skill: Using a Dictionary A dictionary is used to tell what part of speech a word is. n. = noun v. = verb adj. = adjective

Jesus and his disciples came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
