According to Multiple Intelligences (MI) Theory, all human beings possess at least nine forms of intelligence: verbal- linguistic, logical-mathematical, musical- rhythmic, visual-spatial, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalist and existentialist. “W e all have all the intelligences, but no two people are exactly alike.” (Gardner)
7
How are you smart? You don’t have to be a master in all nine intelligences! Tap resources in the intelligences you typically shy away from in the classroom! Some ways to do it: a) Drawing on colleagues’ expertise a) Asking students to help out a) Using available technology
8
Describing intelligences in students The single best tool for assessing students’ multiple intelligences is simple observation on: how they misbehave in class how they spend their free time in school In addition to observations: Collect documents Look at school records Talk with other teachers Talk with parents Ask students Set up special activities Checklists

10
By understanding students’ strengths and weaknesses in each intelligence, we can help them become more successful !
11
MI and Teaching Strategies No one set of teaching strategies will work best for all students at all times. Integrating MI into the classroom involves changing our idea about teaching and learning by: Addressing individual differences Providing a range of activities and experiences to facilitate learning
12
MI and Technology There is no "right way" to integrate intelligences or technology into the classroom. The key is to provide the most effective learning environment for all students. Make the effort to teach to multiple intelligences using technology “seamlessly”!
