Trench Vocabulary ► Trench- a deep ditch used for shelter from enemy fire ► Parapet- front of the trench ► Parados- rear of the trench ► Fire-step- two or three foot ledge that allows one to see over the top of the trench ► Trench foot- medical condition caused by prolonged exposure of the feet to damp, unsanitary, and cold conditions ► Funk-holes- small areas scraped out of the side of a trench where soldiers would sleep during rain
