Quotes by Brother Lee “Based on our experiences in the United States, we can take the junior high and high school students to the mountains every six months for a conference. Such an activity would need the support of the church…We can hold a mountain trip every three months to have a greater impact.” “I am burdened to have a meeting with the elders in the church in Taipei. Perhaps the church can purchase a plot of land in the nearby scenic area and build a recreation center for the students. If we have such a center, the churches can take turns using it…it would be best…that all the meeting halls in the church in Taipei and the nearby churches can use it regularly.”

Quotes by Brother Lee “Having such a place available for the young people will make everyone happy, and its effect will be beneficial. We can take the teenage saints…to the mountains. Even their gospel friends can be saved on such a trip…we should do this work earnestly, and we should be even more aggressive with the college students. Presently, in the United States the work with the high school and college young people depends on these conferences. Such conferences uphold our young people.” -Excerpts from Chapter 2 of Crucial Works of Leading in the Lord’s Recovery, Book 5

Burden and Fellowship with Brother Lee
In 1995, Brother Lee had various talks related to the need of a retreat center citing three concerns: The costs of using the various camps in the mountains The poor conditions that were encountered in leasing these camps for the YP work The problems in scheduling our camps when using a rented facility
7
History of Engedi Camp and Conference Center
In the summer of 1996, Brother Lee sent some brothers to look over the proposed Engedi Camp and Conference Center, which was purchased soon after. In the summer of 1999 the first retreat was held at Engedi. Although the capacity of the camp has grown incrementally over the past 15 years, to date, effective usage for it has not been found.

Engedi Camp & Conference Center Challenges
High altitude Inclement weather in winter months Difficult driving conditions Long distance Limited capacity Approvals obtained to expand to a 550 person capacity Estimated cost to build: $4,500,000 Must be significantly completed by February 2016, or else new CUP will need to be obtained
12
These challenges have resulted in the underutilization of Engedi Should we seek an alternative to keeping and expanding Engedi?
