Alliteration Is use for poetry that was the repeating sound in a group of words Example: " Dressy daffodils" is an example of alliteration because both the words begin with "D." Alliteration is like rhyming, but with alliteration the rhyming comes at the front of the words instead of the end.

Ballad Story tell in poetic form that is a love story. Ballad passed generation to generation by singers. Examples: The Mermaid by Unknown author Oh the ocean waves may roll, And the stormy winds may blow, While we poor sailors go skipping aloft And the land lubbers lay down below, below, below And the land lubbers lay down below.

Characterization How the writer shows the personality of the character. Example: The strips white and red with googols.

Connotation and Denotation The Denotation of the word is the definition of a dictionary. The Connotation of a word is its emotional content. Example: Love a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.

Dialogue A conversation between two characters. Example: ‘’How was your school today.’’ ‘’ I don’t know. Alright I guess.’’

Fable A story that has a lesson to teach. Example: That every one wants to be like bugs bunny except for tweenty

Figurative Language When you say something but it means something else. Example: “ Hello –I’m on a train of thought.”

Flashback An event that took places in the back. Example: Drinking to much coffee will get flashbacks.
