3 Gulf War Iraq needed money so they invaded Kuwait. The United Nations did not like this. The United Nations bombed Iraq and then a month later they ground-attacked them and retook possession of Kuwait. Rwanda In Rwanda there was an ethnic conflict between the Hutu and the Tutsi. Due to this conflict 500,000 died. Bosnian War In Yugoslavia ethnic conflict occurred here as well between the Serbs, Croats and Muslims. Yugoslavia was eventually broken up. Struggles for power and control between the ethnic groups led to ethnic cleansing (population transfer).

4 Events/News Feb. 26, 1993 in New York City a bomb exploded in the basement garage of the World Trade Center, killing 6 and injuring at least 1,040 others. The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) gets signed by the governments of the United States, Canada, and Mexico and came into play on January 1, 1994. The 90's saw a world wide increase of the use, production, and smuggling of the drug trade, with the drugs becoming more addictive and destructive

5 There was an increase in Aids in Africa and throughout the world. O. J. Simpson got arrested in killings of wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and friend, Ronald Goldman June 18, 1994. On April 19, 1995 in Oklahoma City a car bomb exploded outside the federal office building. 168 people were killed, including 19 children and 1 person who died in rescue effort. Over 220 buildings were damaged. Bill Clinton becomes 42 president of the United States on January 20, 1993.

16  TV show sitcoms were popular with the American audience.  A popular notable video game of 1990 was Super Mario World.  American NBA Basketball player Michael Jordan becomes a major sports and pop culture icon idolized by millions worldwide.  The Rachel, Jennifer Aniston's hairstyle on the hit show Friends, became popular with millions of women copying it worldwide.

17  The world wide web was founded on November 12th, 1990.  In 1995 Ken Kutaragi introduced us to the first Play Station.  In 1993 James Dyson created the first bag less vacuum cleaner.  The DVD was developed and invented by Sony, and Philips in 1995.

18  The World Wide Web was invented in 1990 by Tim Berners-Lee.  A sheep later called Dolly was cloned from the cell of an adult Ewe (sheep) and was fused with an unfertilized egg cell from which the nucleic DNA had been removed.  The V-chip was invented used for television receivers allowing the blocking of programs based on their ratings category.

19  There were many popular toys in the 1990’s.  Some in which included Silly Putty, Polly Pocket, Moon Shoes, Pillow Pals, G.I. Joe, Bop it, Game Boy and many others.
