A “New Deal” for America Based on economist John Maynard Keynes (Keynesianism) Based on economist John Maynard Keynes (Keynesianism) –Economic stimulation requires spending, and consumers have nothing to spend –Gov’t, therefore, needs to be the spender, even if it means a deficit budget –Gov’t spends money to create jobs; with jobs, consumers have money to spend –As consumers spend, the wheels of the economy start moving again

Totalitarianism A political system where a political leader (dictator), party, or group has complete control over all aspects of social, cultural, economic and political life. – –Control over religion, media, information, economy, political participation, arts, etc. – –No concept of “Individual Rights”
