What we do Reduce the use of custody and encourage better use of prevention activities and robust alternatives to custody that may provide better outcomes for young people. The key aims are to: Reduce the use of youth custody, in order to contribute to savings across the youth secure estate. Improve outcomes for young people who offend. Strengthen the local authority’s accountability for young people in custody and the contributions that the authority makes to preventing offending and reducing reoffending.
