The gel makes it possible to measure DNA strands. Makes them visible so we can measure them.

The gel sorts the DNA strands. The gel is like a sponge made of Jell-o with many little holes in it.

They sort by size, size determines speed. The smaller of strand is the faster it moves.

The electrophoresis is how the DNA strands get pushed through the little holes. Having electrical current helps moves the DNA strands.

Strain the new groups makes the visible to the naked eye. The DNA appears as bands in the gel.
