3. Why have a Psychiatry Rotation Mental illness is very common and all of you will work with this patient population regardless of what area of medicine you land it!

4. Why have a Psychiatry Rotation There is often apprehension about working with psychiatric patients. People fear they won’t know what to say, will say something that will set the patient off or harm them.

5. Why have a Psychiatry Rotation You learn how to interact with psychiatric patients and will discover that you interact with psychiatric patients just like you interact with all the patients.…with respect, kindness and caring. Our patients are just not as fragile as you imagine!!

6. General Clerkship Structure 6 weeks in length Number of students varies by site It is primarily in the inpatient setting Call is until 11:00 PM and typically is once q week of the rotation Work hours are usually from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM on noncall days
