What did the youth pillar undertake in the year 2013-2014 1. 1.Find suitable persons to populate the pillar and fill the roles of: Chair person (Helena)….. Vice chair needed, should be possible with new members Pillar Communicator (Fran) 2. 2.Continue to promote existing good practice within and outside of the APA, this has been slow. 3. 3.To continue the development of web based communications, develop regular youth access and use. 4. 4.Put on events for the APA youth Youth Mass (Hosted by St Joseph’s Church) Youth Summer Social (this was put on hold due to reduced membership and ill health of pillar members)
3
What has the Youth Pillar achieved in the year 2013- 2014 Continued organising events throughout the year Youth Mass. Introduction of a dedicated Youth page on the APA website. Develop communication across Parishes on Youth events. Review of the pillar’s role within the APA Set new objectives for 2014-2015 Rethink, move away from trying to organise events throughout the year move toward directing Parishes toward events
4
What remains to be achieved by the Youth Pillar in the areas agreed for 2013-2014 No longer ‘doing’ Now seeing, looking & meeting with a view to sharing and encouraging Parishes to pick and move forward with youth events at parish, local, diocesan & national level.
5
Aspects of particular interest encountered by the Youth Pillar in the Year 2013-2014 Rethink&Redirection Alert Parishes when it is their turn to take responsibility for a an event e.g. Diocesan Youth Mass (it is no longer the role of pillar members to organise this) the parish delivering this will take responsibility to organise and publicise, inviting APA youth across parishes.
6
What are the focus areas of the Youth Pillar in 2014-2015 What we need to do: Meet, eat together and develop a clear vision for the pillar Develop an overview of youth activity across the APA, direct information made available into Parishes. e.g. 1.Parishes inform the Pillar of numbers signed up to First Communion & Confirmation Groups 2.OLOL developing Ministry for Youth; invite APA youth 3.St Joseph’s developing a Ministry for the homeless; inviting young people (25-40 yrs.) to help, sharing a meal monthly. 4.St Louise’s developing Social Networking with the young 5.Youth for Christ; publicise events inviting Catholic youth to participate. 6.Introduce links on the APA Youth web page taking interested individuals to information about OLOL Youth Ministry & St Joseph’s Ministry for the homeless etc.
