To expand each network’s capacity and infrastructure to identify and share strategies and yielded results that demonstrated utility in creating the knowledge base, capacity and infrastructure, social capital, and priority setting necessary to make tobacco control a priority in the respective populations.

This network is for us and by us. The network promotes collaborative and cross-community work whenever possible.

The network supports and continues to pursue these goals. 1. Create One National Campaign: One Logo/Name and Message 2. Develop Clearinghouse on LGBT Tobacco Efforts 3. Identify Data Sets for Analysis and Conduct New Research 4. Enhance Connectivity with Larger Anti-Smoking Organizations 5. Build Resources for Developing Programs and Initiatives Overarching Principles: Recognition of all cultures Creation of opportunities for all LGBT individuals to participate; develop support systems Use of inclusive language that reaches broadest group

Conducted survey of all state-funded LGBT tobacco control activities and initiated TA for MN and FL

Expected completion Sept 2006. Collaboration with Howard Brown in Chicago to update and release a handbook on how to run an LGBT treatment group. Expected release Sept 2006. Creation of an LGBT tobacco website, including resource library. Expected to go live in October 2006. Ongoing participation with the Parity Alliance, a cross-cultural group of tobacco control advocates and organizations. Creation of an LGBT breakout session at upcoming CDC tobacco control meeting. Planning work for 2007 LGBTI Health Summit and 2007 National Conference on Tobacco or Health. Proposed presentation at 2006 Creating Change conference. Follow-up with priorities identified at 2006 Tobacco Summit and planning the 2007 Tobacco Summit in MN.
