Constructive controversy Any situation in which team members directly debate their different opinions regarding a problem in a way that minimizes socio emotional conflict.

Brainstorming 1950’s – Alex Osborn It is a structured team decision making process whereby team members directly interact to generate as many alternative solutions to the problem as possible, piggyback on the ideas of others and avoid evaluation anyone’s ideas during the idea generation stage. Entails 4 rules : 1) No criticism 2) Encourage freewheeling 3) Piggyback ideas 4) Encourage many ideas

Electronic brainstorming A structured team decision making process whereby several people individually generate ideas via the computer software that posts each participants ideas or opinions anonymously.

Delphi Technique A structured team decision making process of systematically pooling the collective knowledge of experts on a particular subject to make decisions, predict the future or identify opposing views.
