According to Henry J. Becker, from the University of California, “ Less than five percent of technology training is placed on “ transformative ” uses. ” This means that less than five percent of technology used in schools transforms the way we teach, learn and assess our students. Instead, technology is being used as a literacy tool. Word processing should not be a long term technology goal.

Technology is always changing! Schools cannot accommodate the changes due to cost and time.

Educational Software E xpensive Obsolete before implementation is complete Software is game driven This game driven approach reinforces old teaching styles – It does not promote new problem solving and critical thinking skills. Classroom programs often mismatch content to child’s ability. Software is often designed to teach to the test.
