Facebook Facebook is a free worldwide social network service which started in February 2004 Founded by Mark Zuckerberg and his college roommates Has over 500 million active users 2

Facebook Privacy Policy Facebook keeps: details of transactions or payments made information about connections such as a friend, sharing a video or creating a photo album information about devices used to access the site – location, IP address and pages visited information when a friend provides details about you and collects information about you from other websites When you publish content, write on your wall or a friend’s wall and use the “everyone setting”, this becomes public information When your friends connect to websites – your information will also be viewed Facebook does not collect information from minors – under 13 You should not provide any false information 3

Reminders Name and profile picture do not have privacy settings You cannot delete gender and birth date Although credit card information is encrypted, Facebook cannot control users’ actions Information is shared with third parties Removing information from your profile does not mean it is not viewable elsewhere Messages cannot be removed Information can be re-shared or copied by other users Whenever you share information, look for the lock icon – choose who you want to see your post Avoid filling out surveys and questionnaires 6
