Voter Turnout – The proportion of the eligible voting-age population that actually votes. Today that U.S. has one of the lowest voter turnouts among the world’s established democracies Between 50-60% of eligible Americans vote in presidential elections In European democracies that number is more than 70%

Nomination – Submitting the name of candidate for elective office A nominee is another name for that candidate Primary Election – An election which voters determine their political party’s nominee for an elective office Notes p. 61

At each table is a reading about a different step in the nomination process Complete your reading as a group, fill out the notes in the corresponding section of your worksheet Then travel around the room to meet people from other groups and find out about their steps Fill in your worksheet using the information that they tell you When you finish, paste this worksheet as a flap onto p. 61 of your notebook
