Some information about me… -from North Vancouver -Taught in North Vancouver (many schools) and London, England (Knightsbridge School) prior to CW -Taught at Collingwood since 2009 - BSc Honours (Queen’s) - BEd (UBC) -MEd (UWO) in Early Literacy, specifically emergent writing

Our Associate Faculty-Miss Seema Ahad -joins the Collingwood team from York House, The Little School -also taught Kindergarten at a Punjabi independent school in Vancouver

Classroom Ethos -We are all good at different things. -We feel proud of trying our best. -We are kind to our friends -We help each other out when we can. -When we need help, we ask a teacher -We say ‘please’. -We say ‘thank you’.

Parent / Teacher Communication -email is the best method laura.scobie@collingwood.org -We will have a class blog (starting next week) with photos, schedules, upcoming events and reminders -Reading log -prolonged absences-please send an email for our records (thanks!)

Class Mums Many thanks to Bonnie Hatswell and Renae Mayo for volunteering to be our class mums this year

Daily Routines -children come into classroom starting at 8.10 am* (*earlier than 8.10 must go to daycare) -hang up backpack, coat, etc… -put reading folder in the reading folder bucket -quiet activity set out at tables -attendance at 8.30am -morning recess at 10.00am (snack at 9.50) -lunch at 11.50am -dismissal at 2.30pm

Weekly Routines Tuesday: Library – Please send library book back to exchange. Gym – PE kit is at school to change into. Wednesday: Assembly – Students wear #1 uniform. Thursday: Gym – PE kit is at school to change into. Friday: Gym – PE kit is at school to change into* *PE kit sent home at the weekend to be washed and returned Monday

Which items ‘live’ at school? -rainboots (*optional=rain jacket. We have CW ponchos as well) -PE kit-sent home every Friday to be returned Monday Which items travel back and forth each day? -reading folder -water bottles

Home Reading -programme starts next week (Monday 17 th ) -book sent home each night in reading folder -should be at your child’s reading ability -child reads home reading book to you (with support ) -please make a note in the reading log -send book and reading log back to school in reading folder
