The Joy of the Interactive Whiteboard
3
Why it’s great…. You can direct the students’ attention It’s ‘active’ & they like using it It doesn’t take long to master the basics
4
I use it… as a ‘conventional’ board (but with typed text) with PowerPoint to provide lesson structure and stimulus to ‘unroll’ poems and other texts to analyse the presentation features and content of websites to show programmes or films on a ‘big screen’
5
The ‘conventional’ board you can ‘create’ flipcharts in advance of the lesson you can use as many pages as you like, returning to previous points for revision & reminders you can move text around, hide it, annotate over it and use the kind of presentation features you would in a word document
8
PowerPoint you can use your PowerPoint presentation ‘interactively’ sound effects and animations add interest students’ own presentations have more impact
9
Now read the mystery of the Mary Celeste What do you think happened? Discuss the possibilities in your groups.
11
‘Kid’ by Simon Armitage The images of Batman and Robin are taken from the TV series from the 70s
12
‘Unrolling’ poems or texts The spotlight tool allows you to control what the students look at on the board The notes feature lets you add keywords or points
14
Using the web you can use a website interactively you can take a photo of the website and annotate it
