IWB is a real challenge “ Tell me and I’ll forget Show me and I’ll remember Involve me and I’ll understand” Confucius ….doing things and being involved actively make us remember them better ….
3
Why integrate IWB in my teaching practice It is attractive to young learners and the teachers alike It involves the learners in natural real interaction It provides practice in all skills
4
It motivates students and promotes enthusiasm for learning It gives teacher a kind of flexibility It saves material for students who are absent or need repetition It gives brighter and clearer presentation of material It creates a joyful, non threatening environment in the classroom and any distance between teacher and students is reduced
5
How can an IWB be used in a learning environment Learning activities with an interactive whiteboard may include: Manipulating texts and images Downloading pictures-video clips from the internet sites such as Google earth, graphs, charts Dragging and dropping correct answers into specific locations Uncovering and revealing information hidden under objects Highlighting key words or objects
6
Making notes and saving them for later use or review Demonstrating or using software Presenting or correcting student’s work Playing class games
7
A teacher who wants to be involved should be convinced of the benefits that IWBs bring be open-minded design meaningful material have clarity of purpose do thoughtful planning
