MFM 2P Minds On Plot the following points: (5, 7) (-2, 3) (-10, 0) (-8, -5) (0, 6) Using either a whiteboard or graph paper, draw the Cartesian Plane and plot these points
2
MFM 2P Minds On Determine the coordinates of the points listed below A( ) E( ) F( ) H( )

MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Learning Goals: I can graph a line in the form y = mx + b I can identify if a slope is positive or negative I know the characteristics of parallel slopes
4
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope

MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope
7
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Now you try: Identify the slope, rise, run, and the y- intercept from the following equations:
8
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope We can use this information to graph lines. 1.Start by plotting the y-intercept (b). 2.Count up or down for the rise and then right for the run and make another point 3.Continue counting for the rise and run and making additional points 4.Connect points with a line

MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Things to remember when graphing lines: Always start by plotting your y - intercept (b) If there is no “b” in your equation, b = 0 If the slope is negative go DOWN from the previous point(instead of up) and then over to the RIGHT. If there is no “x”, m = 0 If there is an x with no number, m = 1
12
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Complete worksheet #1 – Graphing Lines When you are finished, bring it in to get it checked. Then get worksheet #2 – Properties of Slope
13
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Conclusions: What was the same about your graphs with positive slopes?
14
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Conclusions: What was the same about your graphs with negative slopes?
15
MFM 2P Lesson 10: Graphing and The Properties of Slope Conclusions: What was the same about the two equations paired together in “e”? In “f”? What was the same about their graphs?
