Prince Alexander Born in 356 BCE. Was a prince Father was king of Macedonia, which was NOT in Greece. It was a huge country in the north of Greece.

Education Alexander had Greek teachers, one of which was Aristotle. He spoke Greek, knew Greek history and believed in the Greek gods. When he was a boy, he dreamed of teaching everyone, everywhere, about the wonderful Greek culture he knew and loved so well.

Trained to Rule He was trained to be a ruler,warrior and a leader of men. Became King when his father died

Conquered the World When he grew up he expanded the Macedonia empire. He NEVER lost a battle He conquered the ENTIRE known world in the Mediterranean region.

Spreading Greek Culture Alexander loved Greek culture. Every place he over took, he introduced the newly conquered people to Greek literature, myth, dance, language, money, medicine, art, and theatre.

Spreading Greek Culture cont. He allowed conquered people the opportunity to run their own country as long as they learned the Greek ways. Those people who refused, were killed!

Death of Alexander the Great Alexander died when he was only 32 years old. Although Alexander was not a Greek by birth, scholars often refer to him as Alexander, the Great Greek.
