Conclusion- What are the POSITIVE EFFECTS of the Industrial Revolution?

3 EffectImpact Population Growth (from agricultural changes) · Larger pool of workers for factories · Higher demand for goods made in factories Increased wealth of businessmen · More factories being set up to produce goods – thus decreasing the price of goods · Provide funding for inventors – thus inventors are able to come up with new, beneficial inventions. Increased wealth of country· Higher standards of living (basic necessities of life- food, clothing, and shelter · Improved living condition Globalized Economy· Wider range of goods available at a reasonable price · Increased economical activity starting in Britain, then the world · Allowed different people to mix (eg, when farmers were forced to move and integrate into the city, a more diverse population with diverse skills) · Due to the diverse population, people were more likely to be evaluated based on their talents, not their nationality, race or religion.

7 Major Inventions in the Textile Industry (Clothing Industry)- We will learn more during the Gallery Walk Factories- machines set up in a large building (New factories needed waterpower, so they were built near sources of water such as rivers and streams) Entrepreneurs- a person who organizes, manages, and takes on the risks of a business

8 Railroads Revolutionize Life in Britain Railroads being built drove English industry in 1820 1.Increased industrial growth by giving manufactures a cheap way to transport materials and finished products 2.Created thousands of new job for both rail workers and miners 3.Increased agricultural and fishing industries (transport products to distant cities) 4.Easier travel- people took city jobs

10 Class Activity-Gallery Walk (8 min per station) Each group will travel and rotate around the room  Table 1,2,3- Station #1 – Transportation (Side Board)  Table 4,5,6- Station #2- Agriculture (Windows)  Table 7,8,9- Station #3- Textile (Front Board)  When I say switch move to the next station Complete the graphic organizer- you may discuss your answer with your group members

11 Debrief Discussion Based on the document and gallery walk in class today assess  How did the technology of the Industrial Revolution impact society?  Remember to practice discussion protocols  Look at the person speaking.  Wait till they are done before you speak.  Try to build or add onto what someone has previously said.
