3 Required Electronic Submission Project motivated by the promise of increased access to the rich content Electronic thesis submission became an option for graduating students in 1999 By 2006, nearly 50% opt to submit electronically All thesis submissions must be electronic, beginning O ctober 2006

4 Required Open Access Strong communication channels essential to recognize and address issues All electronically submitted theses are open access Applications for permission to temporarily restrict circulation are considered Usually in cases where a patent is pending Benefits of open access for authors and researchers Enhance reputation of university Promote career and publication potential of author Advance of scholarly communication
