STANDARD FORM OF A QUADRATIC EQUATION A quadratic equation is an equation that can be written in standard form: ax 2 + bx + c = 0, where a ≠0 Ex: Write 3x 2 = - 2x + 12 in standard form.

CITY PLANNING A city is planning a circular duck pond for a new park. The depth of the pond will be 4 ft. Because of water resources, the maximum volume will be 20,000 ft 3. Find the radius of the pond. Use the equation V=πr 2 h, where V is the volume, r is the radius, and h is the depth.
