What is Edmodo? Edmodo is a website that further connects teacher, student, and parents. Teachers can use Edmodo to post assignments, create quizzes, polls, homework, or even create posts about topics covered in class. Students AND parents have access to these posts. All you have to do is enter the group code!
3
How do I start? Go to Edmodo.com Click “I’m a Student”
4
Signing-Up! Student will enter the appropriate group code for his/her class. Create a username that will be remembered for instance “allyson_kelly”. If taken, add a number to it! Enter an email if you want to receive alerts whenever something is posted! Enter first and last name Then agree to the Terms of Service
5
Once You’re In… Your page will look like this Type a note here—you can also attach files to your note and send them to your teacher or classmates. Search for previous posts here.
6
To Access Your Class’ Page Click on the appropriate class under “Groups”.
7
Accessing Folders Ms. Kelly will keep all work organized in folders. Every unit we cover in class will have a folder. Click there! Here you would find your different folders.
8
Parent Code On the students main page on Edmodo, you will access the parent code. This code can be used for parents to create an Edmodo account to see what’s going on in class.
9
Other Great Things… Edmodo has a planner capability which students can use to help stay organized. Students get fast feedback on assessments given on Edmodo. Alerts can be sent when something is posted on Edmodo to your email, or by text. If a student forgets what his/her homework assignment is it will be posted on Edmodo.
10
In conclusion, Edmodo is another great resource to foster communication between teacher, student, and parent. After using Edmodo last year I know how beneficial the site can be. My expectation is that behavior on Edmodo is on par with that in the classroom—meaning do not post anything inappropriate. IF that happens, restrictions will be implemented.
