9. CONSONANCE Also refers to the repetition of sounds The repetition of final consonant sounds in words with different vowels The words do not rhyme, but they help create harmony within the poem The Drum Daddy says the world Is a drum Tight and hard And I told him I’m gonna beat out my own rhythm

10. LAYOUT OR LINE BREAKS Poetry looks different than prose The lines of poetry often reflect meaning Line breaks are carefully designed to signal to the reader the meaningful phrase units that represent deeper meanings
