3. Tim Meeker “ I didn’t want Sam to get into a fight with Father.” pg. 10 This is a Personality trait This shows that Tim didn’t like it when Sam and Father fought.

4. Sam Meeker "You know I wouldn't do anything like that, Tim. Drunkenness is a sin.” said Sam pg. 14 This is a Personality trait It shows that he believed in sins and thought they were wrong.

5. General Patnam “He shows no mercy when he thinks he’s right.” pg. 175 Personality Trait It shows that he was cruel and can be unfair.

6. Redding “ Redding was divided into two parts- Redding Center and Redding Ridge, which was where we lived.” pg. 24 Redding is in Connecticut, there was a terrible winter from 1778 - 79. Redding is located in Connecticut.

7. Meeker house “ and we could go up to the loft where we slept,” They live here, Sam and Tim sleep in the loft. Also the mom and father sleep on the ground floor.

8. Meeker Tavern/Shop “Being around a tavern is a lot more fun.” pg. 40 It was a tavern mixed with a shop. The Meekers owned this and got a lot of money from it.

9. Sam went to fight the British When Sam had gone to Yale he decided to join the Revolutionary War and fight the Lobster backs (British). His mother and father were not in agreement with this decision nor was Redding. Sam and father got into a fight and Sam ran away. He needed a gun so as a result he stole his father hunting gun (The Brown Bess). Sam was only able to come home three times in three years but secretly came home for a first.

10. Father’s Capture When father was coming home from selling cows to get supplies for the tavern and shop he was captured by cow - boys. Father was a Tory (Liked the King still) so was most of Redding but the cow - boys were Rebels/ Patriots (Wanted freedom). The son Tim was not captured by the cow - boys. Some how father ended up on a British ship after being captured and never came back.

11. The British came to Redding When Ned a black slave saw the British coming he told the town. The Britt's went to Mr.. Heron’s house and he let them in. Then the Britt’s started taking people that weren’t Tory. They killed Ned and many others shot at a man coming with a message. Tim went to get the doctor to get help that is when he saw Ned and the others killed.

12. Story critique I thought that this book was very good. The reason is it had love, romance and best of all war and death!!! It had a good organization of when every thing happened. People that liked the Revolutionary War would like this book. Also people that like good suspense and killing. For people who don’t have any patience don’t read this. Read this book to see what happens to father, Sam and the rest of the town.
