Summary of 2015 activities Plan for the coming months

3 Summary of activities on 2015
After LS1, 2015 was foreseen to be a transition period. Before on going studies and design for new projects are ready for manufacturing, Technical Support has less high priorities projects than in the past years Good opportunity to make progress in “lower priority” tasks Upgrade of the movement system New movement machine (2nd one, for side C) Traction test bench Support to Infrastructure and Safety Re-arrangement of B180, tent 609 Sniffer maintenance Rack cooling BB5 preparation for nSW chambers Support to various sub-systems Machining of accurate parts for AFP (with participation of R. Brendlen PH/DT) Fabrication of lifting beams for Tile module Consolidation work “post LS1” on opening/closing process Scaffolding inventory

4 Storage organization : B180
Activity supervised by Raphael, performed by TC technical team + EN/HE B180 in fall 2014 B180 in June 2015

5 Storage organization : B609
Shelves installation done during LS1 under Philippe’s supervision. From beginning of the 2015, a huge effort has been done to sort equipment and pallets, to organize the storage and keep the DB up to date Effort has started on August to sort and clean up the left side. Work supervised by Didier in collaboration with EN/HE

6 Hydraulic development
AMM for side C Assembly of components : done Switchboard integration and cabling : done Commissioning and tuning : in progress Test bench Operational since August 18th Load capacity up to 225 tons Preliminary test performed on friction pads (110 tons) Study to be continued on two axis : assessment of friction pads + Airpads optimization

7 Distribution of 2015 activities

8 Goals for the next 6 months (2015-2016)
From now to end of November 2015 : A few fabrications Support frames from JFC platform Modification of the 2nd JD lifting frame Installation of USA15 shielding must be prepared 2nd Atlas Movement Machine (AMM) must be completed Machine : commissioning on going Truck piping : on going Re-arrangement of the tent 609 should be completed Test bench for movement system (B180) must be used To choose which movement system for nSW To optimize air pads Preparation of Yearly Technical Stop (YETS) Preparation of B180 clean room for sTGC

9 Goals for the next 6 months (2015-2016)
Yearly Technical Stop (YETS) : from Dec. 14th to March 4th Opening of Barrel area : not yet decided, depends on request from Systems USA15 shielding installation (mechanics) Filling with water : only if possible without risk Sniffer maintenance (all ATLAS : 15/01 to end Feb.) Later on (starting in 2016) Support to JD fabrication and equipment JD+SW lifting and transport frame Mock-up for ITK Tooling for BMG Prototyping,…

10 Work organization during opening
A schedule has been prepared in case of opening during Winter technical stop. Baseline of work is 5 days/week, Monday to Friday, 2 teams working in staggered hours in order to cover 15.5 hours/day 5:00 to 13:00 and 12:30 to 20:30  on 1st week of opening only Monday to Friday, 2 teams working in normal hours in parallel on both sides 8:30 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 17:30  for about 2 weeks Work on Saturday is exceptional and on a normal hours basis. Extra hours will be required… be prepared ! Work start on Dec. 14th and goes until Dec. 24th included : this is the worst scenario in case long access is needed to detectors. Using the 2 AMMs in parallel limits the interest of staggered hours, but the usual rigorous organization will be kept. A very good coordination with RSO and RPE is needed, the RPE should be looked at as being fully part of the team so that they know when their intervention is required. Safety shifts will be organized too Good communication is also required. A web page summarizes the main information Daily meeting is organized where activities are checked and discussed
