A reflexive verb relates to a mirror because you’re looking at the mirror and seeing yourself and it’s the same because with a reflexive verb you’re reflecting the action on you!

There will be pictures on the next five slides and when I call on you, you must name the subject, the verb and object! There may be some that aren’t reflective actions so watch out!

Look at the infinitive, lavarse. What verb do you notice... lavar Add a reflexive pronoun...

1) If the verb is conjugated, then the pronoun will come before the verb. For example... Tu te lavas el pelo. 2) If the verb is an infinitive, then the pronoun will attach to the end of the verb. For example... Tu tienes que lavarte el pelo. 3) If the verb is in command form, then the pronoun will attach to the end of the command. (This is NOT new!) For example... Lávate el pelo!

Possessive adjectives (mi, tu, su, nuestro, vuestro, su) are not used to show ownership when using reflexive verbs. The reflexive verb implies ownership already.
