Omeka software exploration for LOR repository

Omeka Omeka is opensource – that means there is no cost to use the software Omeka can be hosted on our servers on webspace or on their server (for a charge) Grant has 2 parts: portal (public space) and LOR to store faculty content Omeka

Omeka – General features User roles: Admin (Portal Manager) can upload, describe, create collections and groups Supports many file formats – video, pdf, images can be embeded; zip is just zip Search, share, download Can batch upload and batch Collections/Tags Private/public – TAACCCT material MUST be public Social media support (shareable); embeddable Can add search to Blackboard and link to upload for faculty Supports licensing (creative commons) Can be used to build a public open textbook library Omeka

Omeka – Portal Manager Will upload and describe content following established metadata standards Assigning Library of Congress Subject Headings/Keywords, tags, and additional information Will assign all TAACCCT material to the TAACCCT Collection in Omeka Will create thumbnails, deriatives, and snapshots of materials, as feasible Will notify IDs of content completion via email or workform Omeka

Omeka – ID workflow IDs will work with faculty to identify content for the repository Copyright – Is it licensable under Creative Commons?
