Background The dolphins are mammals. A dolphin can live to be 70 or 80! The Bottlenose dolphin can live over 40 years!

Characteristics Male orcas grow to about 25 feet in length and weigh about 19’000 pounds! The Maui dolphin weighs about 90 pounds. A dolphins body helps them swim faster about 22 miles per hour.

Diet/Habitat ● Dolphins eat food like fish, squid, and they eat crustaceans. The dolphins live in the oceans.

Adaptations Dolphins are gray. Dolphins backs are darker than their bellies. Dolphins protect themselves by living in pods. Also, dolphins swim in groups called pods.

Jaw Dropping Facts ● A dolphin's brain goes asleep while the other half stays awake. Dolphins use echolocation to hunt. A dolphins enemies are killer whales and sharks.

Extinction Info ● Dolphins are losing their habitat as ocean levels are rising due to global warming.

Conclusion Dolphins are really cool animals. Dolphins can be white, tan, black, black and white, or a blue gray color. Sometimes dolphins trick their preteder by playing dead. Pod circles the prey until the fish cannot escape.
