5 Acupuncture Acupuncture involves the insertion of extremely thin needles in your skin at strategic points on your body. Acupuncture originated in China thousands of years ago, but over the past three decades its popularity has grown significantly within the United States. In contrast, many Western practitioners view the acupuncture points as places to stimulate nerves, muscles and connective tissue. This stimulation appears to boost the activity of your body's natural painkillers and increase blood flow.

6 Acupuncture Risks The risks of acupuncture are low if you have a competent, certified acupuncture practitioner. Possible side effects and complications include: Soreness, bleeding or bruising at the needle sites Presented for Dr. Ryan Lambert-Bellacov, chiropractor in West Linn, OR

7 The Chiropractic Approach Millions of headache sufferers are turning to the natural, drugless chiropractic approach to health. Chiropractors are the only healing professionals who are trained to analyze and correct the vertebral subluxation complex Presented for Dr. Ryan Lambert-Bellacov, chiropractor in West Linn, OR

8 Chiropractic Research shows that spinal manipulation – the primary form of care provided by doctors of chiropractic – may be an effective treatment option for tension headaches and headaches that originate in the neck.
