How to assess student ’ s writing?
7
Generic Assessment Rubric Mainly assess science-related knowledge and generic skills (e.g. communication skills, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, creativity) Generally suitable for most non-practical related tasks
9
Understanding of the chemistry knowledge is demonstrated. Skills of information search and handling relevant to the task are manifested. Ideas are communicated in a clear and organised manner through written accounts using appropriate forms of presentation (e.g. texts, diagrams, tables and graphs) Competency is shown on handling the task.
10
Chemical Knowledge Characteristics of Li-ion battery e.g. structure, voltage, safety concern Chemical principles including the half equations Use of Li-ion battery in daily life
11
Activity(1) Mark with the generic assessment rubric (10 mins)
12
Marks 10-98-63-52-1 Student (A) Student (B) Sharing: –Which writing is better? Why?

Activity(2) Design your own assessment rubric. List some major criteria for the assessment. (10 mins)
15
Activity(3) Re-mark with the newly developed assessment rubric from your neighbour (10 mins)
16
Sharing: –Which assessment rubric is better? Why? –What assessment criteria should be included?

An assessment tool used to evaluate a student's performance after the assignment is submitted. A working guide for students and teachers, usually handed out before the assignment begins in order to get students to think about the criteria on which their work will be judged. Assessment rubrics :
