Time Zones There are 24 time zones in the world. There is one for every hour of the day. Since the earth is 360 degrees, a new time zone starts approximately every 15 degrees.

US Time Zones How many time zones does the US have? The US has 6 time zones! Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, Alaskan, Hawaiian What time zone do we live in? Central

If I move east across the country, I will add to my time. I will “lose” time. Example: If I am in California and it is 7:00 p.m. and call home here in Iowa. It would be 2 time zones to the east so I have add 2 hours. It would be 9:00 p.m. If I move west across the country, I will subtract to my time. I will “gain” time. Example: If I am in New York and it is 1:00 a.m. and call my friend in Hawaii. It would be 5 time zones to the west so I have subtract 5 hours. It would be 8:00 p.m. the day before!!

Homework “A Time Zone Map” WS Special Directions Take your time and really read the questions! The clocks at the top are only to show the change of times of a time zones Remember the rules and refer to you notes!!!

Exit Card On your note card, 1.Write your name on the front. 2.If I call someone 4 time zones to the east of me, will I add time or subtract time? Put your cards in the basket when done!
