2  Tiered assignments provide ELL students time for you to focus on their specific language needs.  Visual aids  Vocabulary strategies (Frayer Model, flashcards)  Pair ELL students with language proficient students  Find their level of readiness with individual guidance.  ELL learners thrive with visual and kinesthetic activities.  Choices help them feel more comfortable with the assignment.  Discovery learning provides hands-on learning opportunities.

3  Tiered assignments which allow them to think creatively and critically.  Multiple intelligence activities can be used to strengthen their weaknesses.  Choices enhance independence.  Discovery learning provides open-ended situations with challenges not normally encountered.  Challenge them with higher level questions such as:  How can you design?  Can you create a solution?  How can this be said differently?  How effective are…?  What changes would you make?
