1) Continue to enhance the current plan to regularly provide parent/guardian and/or family inclusion efforts including multiple workshops for AVID parents. Parent workshops offered: Back-to-school parent night for all AVID parents Parent survey handed out at beginning of school year Parent workshops offered through ASSETs program Parent involvement in DASH for college fundraiser Parent workshop for junior college field trip Parent workshop for FAFSA information and assistance
11
2) Develop and implement a systematic college test prep program that begins in the 9th grade to ensure 100% of AVID students will have participated in college testing (i.e. PSAT, PLAN, Explore, SAT, ACT) at each grade level. For 9 th graders we plan on giving them the EXPLORE test. The AVID coordinator has already ordered information about the procedure to administer the test and submitted a written proposal to school site council to obtain funds to administer the test. All 10 th graders have already taken the PSAT on October 14, 2009, funded by the district. All 11 th graders will take the SAT and the ACT at end of school year. All 12 th graders have already taken the SAT and/or ACT at the end of their junior year and again at the beginning of this school year. El Cajon Valley High School is proud to administer the SAT test on our campus for the 3 rd year. We already offered it on October 10, 2009 and will offer again in June 2010. On October 27, 2009 all the AVID elective teachers collaborated during a PLC pull-out day to create a vertically aligned approach to test prep in all AVID elective classes from 9 th through 12 th grade. We agreed on test prep skills and resources that will be used at each grade level. A copy of our plan can be found on our wikispace at http://www.ecvavid.wikispaces.com http://www.ecvavid.wikispaces.com Another pull-out day scheduled for December 16, 2009 to continue the discussion about test prep.

3) Continue to increase AP enrollment so that 100% of AVID seniors and 80% of AVID juniors have completed at least one AP course. Additionally, the percentage of AVID seniors taking AP exams is to increase from the previous year. To date, 100% of AVID seniors have already taken or will take an AP course by the end of the school year. To date, 87% of AVID juniors have already taken or are currently enrolled in an AP course. Last year, _________ of AVID seniors took an AP exam some time in their high school career. This year we plan to increase that percentage.
