MONITORING AND TRACKING PROGRESS

Remember Your Primary Objective Mitigate fire suppression-caused damage to as close to pre-fire conditions as is reasonably possible Special note for road repairs: Assess how the road was drained before the fire & work towards establishing similar drainage; consider if basic drainage improvements can be made. DO NOT mitigate pre-fire road drainage problems

MONITOR YOUR PROGRESS: Maintain task / inventory lists Track your progress –Use FLSR-specific map from GIS Spot check for quality control Keep Command Staff briefed Use digital photography for before and after photos

MAINTAIN TASK / INVENTORY LIST Use a continuous work sheet –Identify repair sites on map –GPS waypoints –Location description (lat / long) –Repair Details (description & type of equipment needed; include potential hazards) – Equipment time estimate –Take sufficient notes as if you will not be at the incident ever again

STAY ORGANIZED Develop a drop file Keep FLSR Plan handy & make plenty of extra copies Keep a current IAP handy Establish a check out / in table – accountability is critical for safety – Staff assignments w/ radio identifier, actual FLSR work / equipment assigned, cell phone # (do not rely on T-card info!)

STAY ORGANIZED Develop FLSR-specific phone lists – CAL FIRE – Agency cooperators –Landowner cooperators –Hired Equipment

STAY ORGANIZED Develop & maintain a calendar which tracks FLSR staff scheduling (days off) Work closely with Hired Equipment Tech Spec Work with FSC on damage claims

IMPLEMENT WORK PRIORITIES Watercourse crossing removal Proper line drainage near watercourses Proper line drainage on steep slopes Proper line drainage in assoc. w/ slides Mitigate BLM, DFG Eco Reserves, DPR lands

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS Provide daily work assignments (ICS 204) End of shift debriefing Update master list (spread sheet) or map Participate in planning meetings

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS Stay flexible –Surprises, new discoveries do occur with FLSR –Be prepared to adapt

SPOT CHECK FOR QUALITY CONTROL Conduct field inspections (use before photos as comparison) Talk with landowners Talk with OSC / Division Supervisors Public comments or public input (you will receive it!)
