Background on Shakespeare
William Shakespeare was an English poet and playwright. He is frequently called England's national poet and the “bard of Avon”. His plays have been translated into every major living language and preformed many more times than any other playwright. At the age of 18 he married Anne Hathaway and they had three children. Shakespeare wrote most of his work between 1589 and 1613. (Wikipedia)

Romeo and Juliet in Art Romeo and Juliet was quite a hit with painters. They painted scenes of the play in many different ways. Many of them painted the balcony scene and main, memorable scenes.

Romeo and Juliet in film
In the 1996 version of Romeo and Juliet they base the story in Verona beach instead of Verona, Italy. They also change little things in the story to make it more modern. (Wikipedia)
5
Modern Adaptations A modern adaptation of Romeo and Juliet is the film produced by Baz Luhrmann. He was the same person who produced Moulin Rouge. He produced a version of Romeo and Juliet that people my age can understand. I think it is also easier to follow because it is put into terms that I can understand better. (Wikipedia)

Text to Text Romeo and Juliet is kind of like Edward and Bella in the twilight series. They both have forbidden love for Romeo and Juliet it is because of a family feud and for Edward and Bella it is because Edward is a vampire. They both want to rush things as well and I guess you could say they are all a little young.
7
Text to World A world related event that relates to Romeo and Juliet is when teens get pregnant or talk about very mature topics such as marriage or large commitments.
8
Text to Self like Juliet I am obedient to my parents, sometimes. As a teenager I still love to disobey and Juliet does too by associating with Romeo. So I am in a way like Juliet.
