Module 5: Beyond the Basics with Expression Web LESSON Ext2 Lesson Overview In this lesson, you will: Add audio to an Expression Web project. Add multimedia to an Expression Web project.

Module 5: Beyond the Basics with Expression Web LESSON Ext2 Adding Audio to Your Expression Web Site Several types of multimedia files can be incorporated, including the following: Wave files (*.wav). Midi sequencer files (*.mid). RealAudio files (*.ram, *.ra). AIFF sound files (*.aif, *.aifc, *.aiff). AU sound files (*.au, *.snd). Moving Picture Experts Group (*.mpeg), MPEG Audio- Layer 3 files (*.mp3). Microsoft Active Streaming files (*.asf).

Module 5: Beyond the Basics with Expression Web LESSON Ext2 Adding Audio to Your Expression Web Site 1. First, make sure the audio file is in a location that can easily be accessed. 2. Right-click anywhere on an Expression Web page and choose Page Properties.

In the Loop section of the Properties dialog box, a checkmark in the Forever section means that the audio file will play continuously. 6. Clearing the checkmark will activate the Loop box. 7. A 0 in this box means the audio file will play one time. Click OK.

To insert a media file from the Toolbox task pane, expand the HTML and Media categories by click on the “+” sign to change it to a “-” sign. 2. Double click on media type (Flash Movie or Windows Media Player).

Module 5: Beyond the Basics with Expression Web LESSON Ext2 Adding Multimedia to Your Expression Web Site 3. In the Select Media File dialog box, find the multimedia file to be inserted. Click on the file and then click Insert to insert the file into the Web page.

Once the media file is added to the Web page, its display can be moved to the desired location by clicking on the player, moving the cursor to the edge to reveal the crosshairs. With the crosshair showing, click and move the player to the desired location.

Module 5: Beyond the Basics with Expression Web LESSON Ext2 Adding Multimedia to Your Expression Web Site The media file will automatically play. This effect can be changed through the media properties. 5. Right-click on the player and choose ActiveX Control Properties.

In the ActiveX Control Properties dialog box, click on the Auto Start check box to deselect. 7. Click OK. 8. Preview your Web page again. You should have to click on the Play button to start the media file.
