The Beginnings of Industrialization The Industrial Revolution – refers to the greatly increased output of machine-goods that began in England during the 18 th century.

The revolution starts with agriculture – Enclosures – large fields owned by wealthy landowners. This allowed farmers to experiment Seed drill – seeds are sown in spaced rows at specific depths Crop rotation – allowed soil to retain nutrients

Why did the Industrial Revolution start in England – 1. Water power and coal – 2. Iron ore to construct machines – 3. Rivers for transport – 4. Harbors

England had highly developed banking system – Remember the corporations (East India Company) – They took these ideas and used them in domestic business investment Factors of production – land, labor and capital Entrepreneur – organizes, manages, and takes on risks of a business

Inventions – Flying shuttle – Spinning jenny – Cotton gin – Steam engine – Macadam roads – locomotive
