“Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet Him” ~(Matthew 25:6)
3
What is a parable? A parable is a story Why would Jesus use parables to teach the people? It is the best way to make people understand what Heaven is like
4
Jesus begins the story by saying that there were ten virgins that were invited to a wedding party at night He said that 5 were wise and 5 were foolish What makes someone wise and what makes them foolish?
5
The 5 that were wise brought extra oil with them The 5 that were foolish did not bring extra oil
6
But by midnight the virgins were tired of waiting and they fell asleep
7
Then, a cry was heard, “Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet Him !” All of the virgins got up to go meet the bridegroom.
8
But the 5 foolish virgins realized that they ran out of oil
9
The foolish virgins asked the wise ones if they can use some of their oil. But, the wise virgins said no for fear that there would not be enough for both of them.
10
The five foolish tried going to different people and stores to get more oil, but they couldn’t get any.
11
The wise virgins saw the bridegroom coming and were able to join in the wedding party.
12
The foolish virgins eventually came to the wedding, but by that time it was too late. The virgins pleaded with the bridegroom, saying “Lord, Lord, open to us”.
13
But the bridegroom answered saying, “Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.” The five foolish virgins were not able to attend the wedding
14
The Lord had told this story to make a point. The Lord said, “Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour”
15
What do the following represent? The wise virgins Those who are ready The foolish virgins Those who are not ready The oil Works The Bridegroom Jesus
16
What does this statement mean, “Perhaps there will not be enough for us and for you?” The righteous man is scarcely saved What does the statement “the door was shut” mean? On the Day of Judgment, any attempt to repent is useless.
