2. MPD Objectives Reverse the membership shrinking trend: Improve retention Increase global industry participation –Engage high potential regions –Bring in corporations as Patron members –Develop Corporate Membership Reimbursement Program

3. Membership Development Program A re-defined Membership Development Support (MDSG) Grant Expanded-DLT with Local Lecturer Tour (LLT) option Support for Chapter Initiatives Chapter funding and Awards (CAA and CoY)

4. Membership Development Support (MDSG) Grant Instituted to encourage ComSoc members to participate in regional, national and international ComSoc activities for membership and services development. The MDSG program will support initiatives that: –Provide assistance to members for professional development; –Support ComSoc members/chapters to develop and retain professional and student membership; –Offer services to its’ members; –Promote member grade-level enhancement; –Support Chapter growth worldwide.

5. Supported activities MDSG program will encourage and support the following membership development activities by Chapters and individuals Organization of special events to promote: –Membership development and retention; –Membership level upgrade; –Connecting with industry; –Establishment of new chapters Travel of members to meetings and conferences, deemed of value to the Communications Society, including: –Local/ regional chapter lectures, seminars and workshops; –MDC, MPD, RCCC meetings and other conferences to support the membership development initiatives; –Outreach to industry, professional, and other societies’ meetings/ conferences to promote membership growth.

6. Key Initiatives High potential regions are being approached –Developing contacts, programs and interactions with Indian corporations –India Road show- Feb 2007 Developing programs in Latin America: working with Chapter leadership –EAME-RCCC - @ICC 2007 (Istanbul) –North American RCCC- Jan 2007 @Las Vegas –Latin American RCCC-Mar 2007 @Peru –Asia Pacific RCCC- March 2007 @ Hong Kong

7. Suggestions…. Invite industry leaders from developing countries - visit them and build relationships Engage “targeted” industry leaders: offer bundled packages –Introduce “ComSoc Honorary Fellow” status to recognize significant connect or partnership, e.g. employee membership fee reimbursement, travel grants, patron $$ –Create ComSoc Advisory Board including top corporate leaders (and others – interaction is important) Introduce “Industry Leaders Award” and other awards Introduce a magazine with focus on applications and global developments

8. More suggestions…. Offer incentives for membership renewal Invite ‘non-member authors’ to become members Introduce incentives and awards at Chapter level –Membership development, Membership level upgrade Include more Communications Magazine articles and on-line services of general and industry interest – priced to sell!
