Wetland Project By: Brandon S. Andrew L.

The importance of wetlands
Wetlands are a very important part of animal life because the marshes serve as a nursery to young animals.

Swamp Found in low-lying areas. Swamps have many types of grasses.
Most swamps are partly flooded for part of the year. Plants such as orchids, may hang from tree branches. Water lilies and other plants grow in standing water.

Water Quality The water quality needs to be good enough for all the aquatic life to stay and be healthy because if all fish die out then the water will get even worse because plankton cleans the water and drinking bad water could cause more work for us to filter before we are able to drink.

Turbidity The turbidity affects the plants to get sunlight which animals can’t get food. To test turbidity you can put something in the ocean and see if you can see it clearly or not.

PH The PH affects water quality by what animals and plants can live there You take a sample of water and put a ph tester in the sample. You wait for the paper color to change until your results come at.

Sediment Size The sediment size determines what animals grow then and what plants grow Take a hand full of sediment and look at it through a magnifying glass. Then see what it is on a chart

Water Temperature Water will layer itself by tem. This does not let the water mix which changes aquatic life and where it lives You can test this by putting a thermometer in different depths of water and see how the temperature changes
