INTRODUCTION Green computing is the study and practice of using computing resources efficiently. The primary objective of such a program is to account for the “triple bottom line” (People, Planet, Profit), success. Why?  computer energy is often wasteful  printing is often wasteful  pollution  toxicity

Energy Star: One of the first manifestations of the green computing movement was the launch of energy star program back in 1992. 1. History of Green Computing:

2. The Demons behind Green Computing:  Power supply  Storage  Materials  Display

Approaches to GREEN COMPUTING Virtualization

Material Management  RoHS Chemical elements used: Lead Mercury Other elements used  Energy efficient computing

How to save energy while working on the internet:

Green Web Surfing Greener Google Browsing: Blackle.com Being Green with Yahoo! Greener FireFox Surfing Other Green Surfing Efforts -

How to save energy while working on the computer: Sleep mode Hibernate mode

Green Computing Tips: Use of LED monitors. Disable screen saver. Switch off monitor, printer, scanner when not in use. Tips for Green Home Computing Tips for Green Office Computing

Future is Green Lawn PC :

CONCLUSION Green computing is a novel and an innovative trend in the world of computing which has minimum or no impact on the environment. Green computing has introduced a range of equipments and technologies which help in limiting the impact on the environment. Use of EUPs help in different aspects of the computing world help in recognizing the areas for improvement.
