How Pottery Was Decorated
Pottery Was decorated in two basic styles, the “red figure” method and the “black figure” method.

The “Red Figure” method
The “Red Figure” method is a style of decorating pottery. Figurines in the clay were outlined and the background was filled in with black paint.

The “Black Figure” method
The “Black figure” method is a style of decorating pottery. The figures in the clay were painted in a black silhouette and the reddish background was aloud to show.

History Of Pottery Started when terra-cotta clay was found.
Sixth century B.C. potters were famous for their decorations on pottery such as geometric patterns, floral patterns, men fighting, people driving a chariot, scenes captured from nature, or imaginary wild animals. Pottery was developed on Greek islands and the southern part of the mainland thousands of years ago. Today, terra-cotta pottery is sold in street stalls throughout Greece.
