A limerick is a five-line poem written with one couplet and one triplet. If a couplet is a two-line rhymed poem, then a triplet would be a three-line rhymed poem. The rhyme pattern is a a b b a with lines 1, 2 and 5 containing 3 beats and rhyming, and lines 3 and 4 having two beats and rhyming.

1. Oxygenated blood from the lungs enters the left side of the heart, into the left atrium. 2. The blood goes through the left bicuspid valve into the left ventricle. 3. The heart contracts, sending the blood into the aorta. 4. This oxygenated blood flows throughout the body’s arterial system, giving oxygen and receiving carbon dioxide. 5. The blood returns to the right side of the heart and into the right atrium. 6. The blood passes through the tricuspid valve and to the right ventricle. 7. The blood returns to the lungs to clear out its load of carbon dioxide. 8. The blood picks up fresh oxygen and goes back to the left side of the heart. 9. The pumping of the heart is a repeated cycle of relaxation and contraction of the atria and ventricles.
