Steering Committee Charge Sponsor and guide the planning process. Identify strategic issues and opportunities. Develop the framing questions the plan will address. Monitor the progress of working groups and react to their ideas. Participate in the development of goals and strategies.

Possible Focus Areas (Working Groups) GroupFocus Research and Innovation Diversify sources of research funding Identify areas of research leadership Expand research infrastructure Strengthen the role of research in undergraduate education Broaden and deepen multi-faceted industry partnerships Transforming Education (undergraduate and graduate) Extend the differentiation of CWRU’s graduate and undergraduate degree programs Improve support for developing new degree programs Increase student success Our People – faculty, students and staff Enhance campus culture and climate Develop workforce of the future Recruit and retain talent

GroupFocus Finance, Operations and Infrastructure Evolve services and operations to support new strategic directions Leverage technological change and achieve efficiencies Adjust budgeting and funding models to remove hurdles to interdisciplinary collaborations and create mechanisms to fund new initiatives Meet future student and parent service expectations CWRU 2026 Take a ten to fifteen year view of the future of the university Develop a vision for the university’s future identity, positioning and operations Respond to the systemic changes and challenges that confront higher education Possible Focus Areas (Working Groups)

Possible Working Group Deliverables Final Report Should: Address Strategic Goals for the specific domain – what should the university accomplish in the next five years Strategies and Big Bets – what actions should the university take to achieve the recommended goals o Identify ideas for 2-3 significant investments or decisions that could have a substantial impact on the future of CWRU Responses to WG specific framing questions
