3. Child and Family Welfare Social Worker Miss Garza’s Duties include: Tracking progress of parents that have children who are placed in foster care, that way they can keep their parental rights. Check-up on the children at their foster home on a regular basis and provide them with any medical assistance needed. (i.e. counseling) Visit the foster home to have meetings with foster parents/guardians to make sure everything is going well.

5. Reasons behind abuse Parents who go through this agency are mainly drug addicts. Some parents have a history of some type of abuse in their past. Other parents simply are not mentally stable to be a parent.

6. Key Points to Intervention Build a good communication relationship with both the child and the parents. Never promise something you can’t accomplish. (Trust) Try your best to work with each family as an individual case to better identify with their situation.

7. Necessary Knowledge About Abuse Valarie believes a case worker must always accept and never judge a case. Receive and work with the family with and open mind and understanding of their situation. Go into this position knowing that you are working with people who have had some type of mental and physical trauma, that way the process can be less stressful for both the caseworker and the client.
