2 Volunteer Strategy The Middlesex Rugby volunteer strategy is the local delivery of the national strategy from the RFU. It is all about engaging and encouraging our volunteers and to say “Thank You” for the hard work they do at their clubs and through the County.

3 Volunteers Club Leaders programme To raise awareness of the programme Attract new members Raise awareness of Middlesex Rugby and what it does to clubs and individuals/ Facilitates training on: Finance, Health and Safety, Facility Management, Funding, Safeguarding, Social Media and other areas that the volunteers want to cover. Peer mentoring to offer guidance and support

4 Reward and Recognition Long Service Reward – Recognises 30 years of service as a club volunteer – Recipients are nominated by their clubs President’s Medal – Presented by the president of Middlesex Rugby – To those who have given exceptional or lifelong service to the game. Miss Christy Cup – Awarded to the senior player of the season Invitation to be guests at County lunches, Internationals and other games and events

5 Volunteer Appreciation Awards Launched in 2010 Run by Community Rugby Committee The County’s way of recognising the hard work our volunteers put into their clubs each season Rewards key individuals Clubs nominate the volunteers they feel should be recognised for their outstanding contributions Split into individual awards and President VII awards Clubs are invited to bring volunteers from each section of the club (seniors, juniors, minis, women and girls)

6 Individual Recognition Awards Recognise the contributions of individuals to the running of their club or to the wider game. – West Group Individual Winner – South Group Individual Winner – North Group Individual Winner – North West Group Individual Winner – Overall Individual Winner – Young Volunteer of the Year (under 23)

7 President VII Awards Recognise clubs for their contribution to the game. Club officials nominate their clubs in the following categories: – Expanding and developing the game – Coaching – Refereeing – Community and Social Inclusion – More than a Game (students) – Volunteering – Women and Girls

8 Shaping the Rugby Culture Recognition – Volunteers feel good when you say ‘thank you’ Reward – Value the volunteer certificates, gifts Training – Courses to help develop volunteers Stash – Polo shirts, hoodies etc

9 Discussion How can RUR shape the rugby culture in Russia? How can a volunteer strategy help grassroots rugby in Russia?
